Bits of my heart live scattered across the globe as my people take new steps.
My first week post-grad was spent enjoying my heart's home in Denver with two dear friends and some much needed catch-up time. Warm temperatures, sunny days and fun celebrations were the theme.
This city sparks a unique kind of fire in me. Something about Colorado's flat plains placed starkly under the ever snow-capped Rocky Mountains sends my heart into the most beautiful frenzy. Pair that with brunch and Denver adventures beside my best gals and I am set.
Colorado is cool. What a simple yet complex statement. The people here, the vibe of the city and the stories woven into this valley--it all holds a specific sort of aura. I kept this Colorado coolness in mind while packing, planning a way to mix my personal style with this very different Denver vibe.
For a day spent exploring the mountains, I paired my go-to romper with a comfy flannel favorite and ended the look with my very worn, white (or at least they once were) sneakers. A crimson bandana covered my greasy roots, adding the more *granola* touch of Colorado to my Danie flair. This day must've seen everything Boulder has to offer. From Pearl Street shops to dirt roads nestled way back in the Rockies to CU-Boulder's graduation traffic (not our best scheduling, but quite the stop-and-go adventure), two Alabama gals felt right at home in this new, mountainous terrain. The rest of the week included the most ridiculously stacked biscuit I've ever consumed (while we watched The Greatest Showman, might I add), a stop by the Blue Moon Brewery in RiNo, a 23rd birthday celebration for our favorite Denver resident, and an off-season visit to Breckenridge.
Per usual, time with my favorite pals went much too quickly, but the end of that trip led me to my favorite place: New York City. Read my next post to get the scoop on a handful of short, jam-packed days in the Big Apple!
What are your upcoming travel plans to visit friends in other cities? xoxo,
